Military Students

NewSchool has committed to an unlimited number of students in the and no maximum amount of Yellow Ribbon funds. The Yellow Ribbon program is designed to assist students whose tuition and fee costs exceed the annual Post 9/11 GI Bill庐. The VA will match NewSchool鈥檚 contribution dollar for dollar per student.

Only veterans entitled to the maximum benefit rate, as determined by service requirements or their designated transferees may receive this funding. Active duty service members and their spouses are not eligible for this program. Child transferees of active duty service members may be eligible if the service member is qualified at the 100% rate.

Veterans Resource Center

Room 710 serves as a resource to our military students to learn more about VA benefits and services available in our local community. In addition, it allows military students to meet and interact with one another in a supportive space on campus.

Military credit is accepted according to the American Council on Education (ACE) guidelines.

School Certifying
Officials

The school certifying officials (SCO) are a liaison for NewSchool students and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and are located in the Office of Financial Aid. An SCO鈥檚 main responsibility is to report student enrollment information 鈥� term dates, credit loads, and qualifying costs 鈥� to the VA in order for benefit payments to be disbursed.

The SCO can also:

Answer general questions about federal VA Education Benefits
Provide hardcopy VA forms
Assist students with completing VA forms
Submit forms to the VA
Contact the VA on behalf of a student with a specific benefit-related issue

Military Scholarship

Students who are Active Duty, Reserves, and Veterans of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard qualify for a 15% tuition discount

Military Education Benefits

Eligible veterans and dependents as defined by the VA can be accepted for education. Eligible veterans and dependents may file an application either with NewSchool or the VA.

NewSchool honors the following VA education benefits for active-duty service members, reservists, veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, spouses, and their dependents:

General VA Benefit Information:

Montgomery GI Bill庐 (MGIB) provides education benefits to eligible service members and veterans.
Post-9/11 GI Bill庐 provides education benefits that may help cover eligible tuition and fees, with additional benefits potentially available for books and housing.
Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) provides education and training benefits to eligible veterans with service-connected disabilities.
Survivors鈥� and Dependents鈥� Educational Assistance (DEA) provides education and training benefits to eligible spouses and dependents of certain veterans or service members.
